I was born in Friesland and grew up in Hardenberg. I studied medicine in Groningen and Curaçao. All in all, I lived, studied and worked abroad for 10 years. After returning to the Netherlands, I was based in Amsterdam, where I also lived for 10 years. As a doctor, I often worked in teams, including at the Amsterdam Observer General Practitioners, Schiphol Medical Service and SOS-International.

In 2006, my wife and I moved to Friesland. A few years later, Workum came on my life path, the city of my father and ancestors, because in 2011 I was able to take over Dr de Weerd's practice. In 2017, by association with Dr Käthe de Jong, the practice became a so-called duo practice, a practice where two doctors work together in a partnership.

And now we are the team I enjoy working in, with doctors' assistants, practice support staff and in close cooperation with pharmacy and home care at an address on Konvintsdyk. I strive, together with them, to provide good and honest patient care to the residents and visitors of Workum, Hindeloopen, Gaast, Ferwoude, Parrega, Dedgum, Hieslum and It Heidenskip.
